Poem: The Pretender

He walks with pride

with so much to hide.

His wicked smile

mesmerize.

He’s the pillar of society,

the consummate charmer,

and the one

who everyone

admires.

However,

behind the glitz,

the glamour,

and the boisterous deeds,

he’s insecure

and hasn’t met his needs.

The pretender is he

who strives to be

someone he’s not.
